Located on top of one of the highest hills of the Chianti Classico area, this Villa was a castle fortified in the 12th century by the Vallombrosan monks of the nearby Badia a Passignano. The stone façade faces a courtyard, closed by a crenelleted wall. The private garden overlooks the Chianti hills, offering an overwhelming view of the surroundings.
A complete restoration has brought the building back to its ancient splendour.
Inside, the medieval structure was decorated with Renaissance elements in pietra serena during the Quattrocento. All the rooms have wooden ceilings and floors paved with the original terracotta tiles.
On the ground floor there are two bedrooms with en suite bathroom, decorated with hand made glazed terracotta tiles; an ancient kitchen provided with modern cooking equipment, cooker, oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator with freezer, toaster, coffee machine and washing machine. The large dining room has a decorated stone fireplace and a sitting corner with satellite TV.
On the first floor, there are two double bedroom with en-suite bathroom, a twin bedroom and a bathroom.
Outdoor, on the meadow, deck chairs around the pool allow to relax. A paved corner with wrought iron chairs and a large table is the perfect location for a drink or a dinner ‘with a view’: at sunset, it offers the magnificent show of the twilight in Chianti when the lights of the villages and country houses turn on one by one in the dark at night.
The price refers to the entire villa with 5 double bedrooms.
In the property there is also a small apartment, with a separate entrance, a cozy kitchen equipped for breakfast, a sitting room and a bathroom on the ground floor and a bedroom on the top floor. It is the ideal accomodation for those who want more privacy during their holiday with relatives and friends!
The small apartment can be rented only exceptionally upon request and only by the guests who rent the main villa and it will be priced accordingly.

Chianti – Tuscany”
We had a relaxed and cool week at villa Badia – the neighbours told us, that the house is older then Florence and Siena! What a historic place… The surroundings are spectacular, there are many nice restaurants and wineries around (we recommend: Poggio al sole!). The pictured pool and garden are smaller in real life. And when we we’re there, it was really hot; so everything was a little dry. But the house is 1:1 and just really really nice. We loved, that every room had its own bathroom. Thank you Giulia and Pauline for the nice stay. Isabelle
The house and it’s location are absolutely beautiful. Just the view every day waking up is worth the trip. The pluses of Villa Badia are the space in the house and in each bedroom as well as the garden, very private and secure. The road leading to the house is fine, but i agree with the recommendation in saying that a car with clearance is preferable. The only big minus is that if you go mid season the house is cold and hard to heat up. We depended upon the huge fireplace which is not ideal and safe if you have children like we did. I appreciate Giulia’s attention putting in a call after the stay and requesting detailed feedback. Not many hosts do that.

Stunning castle/ villa in an absolutely perfect part of Tuscany for exploring the vineyards, parks, walks, siena, florence etc. Its very comfortable to get around but remote enough to feel you are far away from the chaos of the touristy hubs. The house is cleaned to an incredibly high standard but maintains its original tuscan features. It has a wonderful large fire which you can use to keep warm on cold nights in the dining room along with all the bedrooms which offer large comfortable beds and ensuites! We would definitely come back here!
Very nice area. Big and nice house. Perfect for 2 families cause 5 bedrooms/5 bathrooms indépendant. Wormly recommended. 4WD car is a plus.

Luogo incantevole, panorama mozzafiato e meravigliosa dimora storica. Consigliata!
